Upcoming Techniques in Vehicle Making

The automotive industry is constantly innovating and bringing the coolest technologies in our vehicles to make them safer and more efficient. With rapidly increasing market competitions, auto manufacturers offer the best of features at affordable costs, vying for the consumer’s attention. Vehicles have seen a huge transformation from being just modes of transportation to having become a way of life or a bundle of technological marvel for some. There are number of amazing technologies that will change the face of the automotive industry in the coming years; techniques that will shape the future of vehicle making and redefine transportation as we know it today.

We bring to you some of the latest technologies that will soon become popular with not only the industry but with the consumers too:

· Efficient energy-storing body panels

While hybrid cars will replace all our existing conventional cars in a few years, they have a demerit of being heavy due to their bulky batteries. Car manufacturers are looking at the possibilities of making energy-storing car body panels that will capture energy produced by regenerative braking or recharging via a power source and then re-energise the car when required. These panels can also be used to store solar energy and not only make the cars more energy efficient but also make them lightweight as compared to the heavy hybrid batteries.

· Cars communicating with each other

There are some technologies that are being developed and tested that will help cars and vehicles to communicate with each other, aiming to reduce accidents on the road and make driving a whole lot safer. Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication is being designed to help cars transmit information about their location, speed and direction to other cars through wireless signals. This information is then used to determine if the vehicles are on a collision course and what could be the best way to avoid potential accidents by using software algorithms. There is another technology called the Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I), wherein the cars will be able to communicate with the road signs or traffic signals to request traffic information, get suggestions on routes or other safety information. These innovations will increase road safety and also help authorities control and regulate traffic easily.

· Augmented Reality Dashboards

Some auto manufacturers are looking to introduce driver-friendly dashboards that will capture information of the objects or vehicles in front of them and display the information on the windshields. For example, the distance of the car in front you and how fast you are approaching it or the vehicle registration number of the car in front of you that will automatically bring up information like driving licence number and other passenger details. These reality dashboards can also add functionalities to your GPS by highlighting the route that you need to take, right in front of you on the windshields itself.

· Airbags to stop the cars

These innovative airbags are designed to deploy when the vehicle is about to crash and help in stopping the vehicle by using the friction coating on them. They can also lift the cars by a few centimeters thus improving passenger safety during a collision.

There are many upcoming technologies that are being developed and tested by vehicle manufacturers that will give rise to interactive vehicles to make transportation easier, safer and more environment-friendly.
